Our commitment
A more sustainable World Cup
Certifications and concrete initiatives for an event that respects people, places and resources.
Certifications

PAS 2060 — Carbon Neutral Certified · GHG Verification Statement n. 83018 by CSQA
Our road to sustainability started in 2024. The carbon footprint of the event has been measured and the greenhouse gas emissions offset to achieve climate neutrality. Emissions were calculated with Spinlife, a University of Padua spin-off, and verified by CSQA Certifications.
Towards ISO 20121
The organising committee has adopted a sustainable management strategy leading to ISO 20121 certification, the international standard for sustainable event management.
Concrete commitments
Differentiated waste
NET, the local waste management company, will set up and monitor dedicated collection points for paper, glass and compost, making recycling and the circular economy possible.
Plastic free
Athletes, companions and referees receive aluminium water bottles, refillable at water dispensers supplied by the local network, to reduce disposable plastic bottles as much as possible.
Re-use & social inclusion
The bags and cases for the winners are sewn by LISTER, a social tailoring shop in Trieste employing disadvantaged people, reusing the PVC banners of the earlier World Cups.
Shared mobility
A shared transfer service connects Udine with the airports, and most hotels are within walking distance of the venue, to minimise CO2 emissions.
Eco mobility
Electric and hybrid cars are used for the transfer of the main guests.
Paper free
The use of paper is eliminated as much as possible; when needed, only FSC-certified paper from sustainably managed forests.
Energy saving
Simple actions to reduce energy consumption, even in the middle of winter.
Genuine food
Local and healthy food is recommended to everyone.
Positive communication
Positive messages for young athletes and their companions on health, social inclusion, gender equality and human rights, through the Fencer's Decalogue.
